Radio and Me ... 38

My Fave Radio Apps:
I am an avid radio listener. (Understatement!)
The local Halifax radio dial ... now all FM ... contains the usual Canadian urban stations: 4 CBC / Radio-Canada, 7 rock, 2 country, 1 news / talk, 4 community (including one in French, and a new one in Arabic), 1 Christian, and 1 easy listening.
But, of course, Dear Reader, that's never enough!
After dark, I seek out some of the big 50,000-watt AM stations on the East Coast, such as WCBC-News 88 and 1010 WINS, both in New \York, or Bloomberg, in Boston.
But the sound quality on those is hit-and-miss most of the time.
So, I've collected a number of radio apps.
You can click on their title for the URL, listen if you wish.
Then, if you liked what you heard, you can search online for the app.
Here goes, in some vague order of use:
-- Classic FM - London:
This app is in a class by itself: Displays a photo of live show presenter, alternated with album cover as selection is played.
Menu links to 'Listen Again' -- replays of any programs over last two weeks.
-- Zoomer Radio - Toronto:
Music from 1930s, throught rock 'n' roll, to 1980s.
Link to sister station, 'Classical FM.'
-- CBC Radio:
Features and photos, with live links to ALL CBC Radio One stations, and Eastern and Pacific International Radio 2 feeds.
(For ALL Radio 2 feeds, you have to download 'CBC Music' app, which is in beta format, and although withb excellent photo / music features, navigation is quite confusing).
-- BBC 5 Live - London:
Great British local and European news 24/7, short and snappy features, with lots of sports talk, especially on 'footy.'
(They loop an ID message if on-air program is 'restricted.')
-- BBC World Service:
Great world news summaries and in-depth features, 24/7.
-- BBC Radio 4:
Extensive news, extended interviews and features, some drama.
-- BBC Radio 4 Extra:
Dramas / comedy shows / features, from 1930s right to the present.
-- WGBH - Boston:
Current affairs news / interviews from U-S 'Public radio' sources.
-- WCRB - Boston:
Classical music from WGBH, with extensive archived libraries of Boston Pops and Boston Symphony.
-- Ici Musique:
The French Radio-Canada music station, which is also extensive, and hard to navigate.
and, finally,
-- News 95.7 Halifax:
Local News, Talk, Sports, including 'Moosehead' junior hockey, Canadiens hockey, 'Blue Jays' baseball, and 'CBS Sports Radio,' overnight.
Hope you enjoy some of these.
Good listening!
